IBM Cloud – Certified Application Developer

I first learnt about the IBM Cloud Application Developer certificate through an internal communication shared with IBMers in Q2. It wasn’t until last week that I decided to test my knowledge of IBM Bluemix and take the exam. Happy to say I passed the exam first time ’round, though it wasn’t easy TBH.

Having sat the Cloud Solution Advisor exam in December 2014, I figured a similar pattern of study would apply. Pull down Certified_no_stars_updatedthe study guide, leverage online resource to address areas that felt like they required further explanation, then sit the exam. While this was my approach to study and I did pass the exam, I don’t recommend following this path for those that aren’t experienced using Bluemix & IBM Bluemix DevOps Services. The study guide while comprehensive, didn’t cover a number of questions asked on the exam. Hands on experience of using data services on Bluemix is a must. Basic knowledge of JSON and the Cloud Foundry command line interface are also required.

I believe the IBM Cloud Ecosystem team are in the process of delivering more detailed study guides for this exam including online material and tutorials. In the meantime, if you’re interested in taking the Cloud Application Developer exam and would like more info, don’t hesitate to give me a shout on Twitter @daltonology

  1. Good points 🙂 agreed with your comment on study guide not covering all the topics/questions.

I am the author of Bluemix course for app development & certification…have added roughly 300+ questions to help students evaluate their understanding and get prepared for the exam…..please take a look at it and share your views/thoughts.
